【每个乐手的向往】絮状渍纹鸟眼枫木详解
https://img.guitarschina.com/img2016/1212qh/57.jpg絮状枫木-Quilted Maple只有美国的大叶枫才会有絮状纹的枫木，它极为稀有、絮状纹仅存在于树干的外部区域同时只向树芯延伸几厘米。而这些絮状类似云彩木纹的形成，生物学家的解释是因为树干承受了非常大的树枝重量，从而要求树干生长出坚固的“肌肉”木材。因为他非常非常稀有所以价格也非常昂贵。与火焰枫木一样，他的分级也从A到AAAAA，絮状云彩越明显等级越高。
浅色的絮状枫木通过他的云彩图案可以展现出独特的3D效果，当用透明密封剂涂覆时，这种3D效果尤为明显。

渍纹枫木-Spalted Maple的独特木纹并不像火焰枫木或者絮状枫木是来自树木生长的错误。相反，这些标记源于树干深处的分解过程。基本上这些木纹的产生是因为死去的木材因为分解真菌导致的化学分解。只有仍然树立着的树木才能用于乐器制造，因为一旦树倒下之后它就会充满虫洞变成昆虫的受害者。因此只有在树木正要到达寿命的终点开始缓慢死去并树立着的时候，渍纹才有最好的形成条件。这个时候真菌就开始从树干的深处向外进行分解了。这个过程会产生类似精美大理石般的有趣标记（即:渍纹）。
根据分解的情况，渍纹枫木的比重在250-500kg /m³之间

鸟眼枫木-Birdeye Maple主要用作琴颈和贴面。因为树木的生长错误从而让木材展现出这些看起来像一只小鸟眼镜集合的独特图案，因此被称作“鸟眼枫木”。有许多理论师徒去解释这种生长错误的确切原因。一种理论是，鸟眼由寄生真菌引起；另一种是因为树木的生长的恶劣环境条件。
木材的芯部从奶油色到浅棕色，并且随机分布着棕色到红色的鸟眼。每棵树中的鸟眼的大小和结构都有所不同。
鸟眼枫木的比重约为750 kg/m³
