全明星乐队红节奏新专辑《PROPER UP！正》即将发行

“PROPER UP！正“是中国最受欢迎的顶尖爵士放克大乐队《红节奏The Red Groove Project》继2013年首张全原创专辑“Flow浮”发行之后的第二张全原创专辑。这是一张囊括了爵士，放克，节奏…等音乐风格的演奏专辑。2016年11月4日，将由索尼音乐正式发行！
「我相信这张专辑刻画了我们所在的这个时代和这个城市－中国上海的音乐动向。作为一个成军十三年的乐队，我们就像这个充满活力的城市一样，不断变化和成长。
对于长期担任红节奏主力贝斯手的EJ. Parker选择回美国定居，我们都感到不舍, 同时也非常感谢能够拥有才华横溢的新任贝斯手－担任这张专辑人声，录音和混音师的Damien Banzigou加盟红节奏！我很高兴EJ和我共同创作的曲子“Proper Up”收录在这张新专辑并成为专辑名称！当然，我还要感谢所有红节奏其他成员：小号手－胡丹峰，Toby Mak，长号手－胡清文，萨克斯手－Alec Haavik, 键盘手－Sean Higgins，鼓手－Nicholas Mcbride,以及打击乐手－Leonardo Susi为这张专辑贡献了一如既往的惊人才华和完美演绎。

Proper Up” is the second album release from The Red Groove Project, following their much acclaimed 2013 release “Flow”.This new record is a collection of instrumental jazz/funk/groove music that I believe really celebrates the act of making music in our time and our place, in this case Shanghai, China.As a band we are always changing and growing, just like this dynamic city.While we were extremely sad to lose our long-time bass player EJ Parker when he relocated back to the USA, we were so thankful to receive the amazing talents of Damien Banzigou, as both bass player, vocalist, and recording/mixing engineer!And EJ is still well represented on the new album as cowriter of the title track “Proper Up”.Of course, as always, I’m blessed to have the amazing talents of Hu Dan Feng (tpt), Toby Mak (tpt), Hu Qing Wen (tbn), Alec Haavik (sax), Sean Higgins (keys), Nicholas Mcbride (drums), and Leonardo Susi (perc).As we grow older and hopefully wiser we come to appreciate that music at bottom is an act of bringing people together, to create and to listen, and always with a sense of joy, seriousness, and humor.And I hope that shows in this new record.

《红节奏The Red Groove Project》 被誉为中国当今最受欢迎的顶尖爵士放克全明星乐队! 2004年由刚从美国来到中国不久的JZ Music签约艺人－华裔美籍吉他演奏家/作曲家-Lawrence Ku(顾忠山)和身边的音乐好友在北京组建了这支以演奏放克风格为主的大乐队，乐队阵容包括管乐部和节奏部。乐队成立初衷是要把躁动热情的放克节奏和弦律带给当时还不习惯跳舞的中国观众。一开始《红节奏》演绎不少改编国际音乐大师的作品，像是：Jackson 5， Stevie Wonder，Mos Def... 等。随后，顾忠山开始为乐队专门创作了一些作品，音乐风格热情，自由，奔放，同时也具备深度和韵味。2005年顾忠山移居上海，和一些志同道合的音杰出乐家组建起一支全新的《红节奏》。多年来，红节奏逐渐成为中国爵士乐坛的一支标志性乐队，培养了一群热爱爵士放克和跳舞的忠实乐迷。2009年《红节奏》乐队扩展到10人编制，《红节奏》的全新原创作品让人焕然一新，放克、摇滚、流行、灵歌、爵士，甚至美国南方音乐的各样节奏，让听者不仅摇摆身体也释放心灵。乐队成员集结了居住在上海的爵士乐坛顶尖音乐家，分别来自中国、美国、 澳大利亚和巴西。不同的音乐背景让《红节奏》的音乐呈现毫无违和的融合国际感。《红节奏》在数届JZ Festival爵士上海音乐节、复兴爵士音乐节、西湖音乐节，东海音乐节，长沙音乐节，澳门国际音乐节，MIDI国际爵士节...等音乐节吸引了无数热情的观众关注。 红节奏强大奔放的音乐能量总能惊艳全场，让观众忘情投入在独一无二的《红节奏》音乐魔力之中。这支成军13年，扎根上海的顶尖爵士放克全明星乐队在2013年底发行了首张录音室专辑《浮FLOW》， 2014年5月，顾忠山凭借《红节奏》首张专辑《浮FLOW》荣获台湾第二十五届金曲奖演奏类《最佳专辑》《最佳作曲人》《最佳专辑制作人》三项大奖的入围肯定。2016年11月4日，红节奏第二张全原创实体专辑《PROPER UP!正》即将由中国顶级爵士音乐厂牌JZ Music的战略合作伙伴，国际三大唱片公司之一－索尼音乐在台湾和中国大陆，以及全球各大数字平台同步发行！新专辑首发音乐会11月4日也将在上海JZ Club盛大举行，这也是红节奏阔别JZ Club数月之后的闪亮回归！精彩可期，不容错过！

作曲人－顾忠山多年前就开始创作《红节奏序曲》，作为红节奏乐队演出的开场序曲演奏，他很荣幸这张专辑终于能收录这首完整版的《红节奏序曲》，也特别感谢参与演奏的嘉宾音乐家——挪威杰出键盘/合成器演奏家Steinar Nickelsen、以及红节奏主力键盘演奏家Sean Higgins及小号演奏家胡丹峰为这首曲子做的精彩演绎。从乐曲的深度出发，这是一首与专辑整体风格契合的开场曲……就是Funk！
“The Red Groove Overture” was actually written years ago as an opener for our shows. I’m glad we finally got a chance to record it! Thanks to some keyboard wizadry from special guest Steinar Nickelsen and killing solos from Sean Higgins andHu Dan Feng, it makes a fitting opener to the record.From the depths emerges…the funk!

《穿皮裤的勃拉姆斯》创作灵感源自于作曲人－顾忠山喜爱的德国古典音乐家Johannes Brahms(约翰内斯•勃拉姆斯) 的第四交响曲。顾忠山在创作过程中，想象着倘若勃拉姆斯生活在今时今日，和一群潇洒率性的重机骑士一块骑着摩托车在公路驰骋的样子。这首曲子充满摇滚律动的独奏由Alec Haavik的萨克斯以及作曲人顾忠山的吉他完美诠释。
The theme to “Brahms In Leather” comes from Johannes Brahms’ Fourth Symphony, one of my favorites.This is kind of what I imagine Brahms would write if he were around today and in a biker gang.Rock and Roll solos from saxophonist Alec Haavik and myself.

Influenced by the music of Fela Kuti, “Shanghai On Safari” is a tribute to this fascinating city we live in.It opens with a drum and percussion intro featuring Nicholas Mcbride and Leonardo Susi, who has a percussive conversation with himself. The song is written for our wonderful horn section, and you can hear their talents as a section and as soloists:Toby Mak (trumpet), Hu Qing Wen (trombone), Alec Haavik (saxophone), and Hu Dan Feng (trumpet).

Written by myself and EJ Parker, “Proper Up” is a hard hitting funk tune and the title track of the album.This features a solo from myself on guitar and another great one from Sean Higgins on the keys.

《缺陷》是由红节奏乐队的小号演奏家Toby Mak所创作的曲子之一，以呈现吉他旋律为主的音乐作品。才华洋溢的Toby总是能写出简单但是让人回味深刻的旋律，这首曲子就是最佳范例。
“Flawed” is a beautiful guitar feature written by Toby Mak.Toby has always had a gift for melodies simple but so deep, and this is another great example.

Another fantastic contribution from the pen of Toby Mak, “Rare Spare” is always one of the funnest tunes in our repertoire.It’s a funky jam that we can really open up on, and features solos from Sean Higgins and Toby.

专辑最后一首曲目《亚洲爆炸头》采用了上世纪六十年代到七十年代美国Motown音乐风格。特邀嘉宾音乐家Steinar Nickelsen使用了Hammond B2型号的电管风琴为曲子做了铺垫，作曲家与乐队成员，长号演奏家胡清文、贝斯演奏家Damien Banzigou、和Steinar Nickelsen、鼓手Nicholas McBride也分别进行了精彩绝伦的独奏演绎。
The closing tune of the record “Afros On Asians” is inspired by the Motown sound of the 60’s and 70’s.The song features Steinar Nickelsen on the Hammond B2 organ and solos from myself, Hu Qing Wen, Damien Banzigou, Steinar, and Nicholas Mcbride.
