矢堀孝一是吉他手，教师和音乐制作人，曾参与录制20多张专辑，其中有相当数量的个人专辑。他早期接受正统音乐教育，曾组建过 Fragile 等日本知名的乐队。此外，矢堀孝一还致力于出版爵士乐教学理论，并在日本各音乐学院任教。
