Arcangel Fernandez guitars are probably the most difficult Flamenco guitars to obtain built by living makers. Of his guitars, those from the ‘60’s are certainly the most highly prized and rarest. This nearly mint condition example is in exceptionally pristine condition. No cracks or scratches at all! No repairs! Even the frets are in excellent condition. It was lovingly cared for by one owner who took great care to maintain it at all times. Wonderful vibrating openess, the kind that moves through you when you play. The finest of the fine and a truly rare opportunity to grab a seldom available ‘60’s Arcangel.

This is the 'real thing', it doesn't get more authentic than a 60's Reyes with peg tuners. A very light guitar, very open and with a fast action. Pegs work very well. Two very well repaired cracks on the top have had no apparent effect on tone, in fact they are in the same place as the repaired cracks on the Reyes that Vicent Amigo uses, and you have heard how nice that sounds, repairs and all. In very good condition. These are extremely difficult to obtain these days. Don't think about it too long, or you will be longing the one that got away.

Arcangel Fernandez is acknowledged to be one of the best makers in Spain. His Flamenco guitars join those of the finest Reyes and Gerundino as being the best in Spain. Arcangel continued the direction of the great Marcelo Barbero after his death and works today in Madrid. His waiting list is so long that new Arcangel guitars are virtually unattainable. This example showcases his flawless workmanship and amply demonstrates his ability to create guitars that can really ‘bark’ and at the same time possess a beautiful lyrical tone. You can look all year for one of these and not find one available, they are extremely rare these days. A great guitar, well played-in and in excellent condition. Finish is lacquer.

Little needs to be said about the legendary Manuel Reyes. Along with Arcangel Fernandez, Reyes is perhaps the best-known flamenco guitarmaker in the world today. Reyes' prized guitars epitomize the pure flamenco sound, having an aggressive, loud, almost brittle sound. This guitar, fitted with peg tuners, certainly lives up to that reputation. Most Reyes guitars were used by working flamenco players and have seen extensive, hard use. It is becoming much more difficult to find one like this fine example, which is in excellent, original condition. Due to this guitar's excellent condition and sound, this instrument would be right at home, either in the hands of a working player, or in a fine collection.

Cordoba has Manuel Reyes, Madrid has Conde and Arcangel Fernandez, and Almeria has Gerundino. In Seville the main maker is Francisco Barba. Played by the likes of Nino Pura, Pedro Pena and of course the great Quique Paredes. The guitar is in like new condition with the minor exception of a little dulling of the finish on the back where it rests against the body. GREAT NECK AND GREAT ACTION! Very bright blanca sound. This guitar will leave no doubts about why Barba is the maker of choice in this town that hosts the Flamenco Bienal!

I first had the pleasure of playing this stellar Blanca when I visited Robert this Summer on the Island of Kauai where he now lives and works. He brought the guitar to breakfast and we sat in a courtyard and played it for a while. Robert is an accomplished flamenco player and layed down some great Bulerias! I was immediately taken with the guitar. Absolutely beautiful resonant tone, exceptionally comfortable to play, and as beautiful as any Arcangel Fernandez I have ever seen. In fact the color and rosette are very reminiscent of Arcangel. Well played in but, in near new condition, this is a beauty!
