I met Craig Alden Dell in the summer of 1999 when he was selling his CDs out of the back of his car at a flea market in Northern New Mexico. I bought "Spirits of the Latin Guitar" then, and it's occupied an honored and well-played space in our disc changer ever since. Dell's interpretations of classics by Granados, Tarrega and others are infused with a soul that only a skilled and loving hand can bring to the classic guitar. They recall a cool autumn evening in the Jemez Mountains - alive with the aroma of a pinon fire and the enchanted New Mexico sky. |
