一老外的对比
I've put in enough time with my newly acquired G9 to make my
observations known publicly. These are strictly my opinions and of
course...your mileage may vary.
Amp Models: TLSE models need a fair amount of tweaking. Once you get
around to acclimating it with your personal set up, you're dialed in.
The G9 models sounds good from the start and offers more flexibility
to get the sounds just right. Cab sim (1) with depth selection, choice
of mics (2), and position is very cool on the G9
I call this a draw. If you're into super high gain, the G9 is for you.
The G9 has plenty of high gain models. If you like vintage tones and
vibe, both the TLSE and G9 will do the trick with an edge towards the
TLSE. It's all in the tweaking (and personal knowledge of what amps
truly sound like) anyway.
Effects & Control: Both the TLSE and G9 offer some very good (for the
$500 and under price range) effects. TLSE delays have ducking while
the G9 has dynamic delay. Distortions pedals (more on the G9), phasing
and reverbs are also comparable. The G9 edges out the TLSE with pitch
bending, flanging, hamonizers, and expression pedal/function
switching. No rotary speaker on the G9. The wahs (3) on the G9 are
almost as good as it gets for modeling. Still, not as good as stand
alone wahs. The Z expression pedal is quite interesting and
functional. A horizontal pedal combined with a vertical expression
pedal that actually gives you 5 ways to control effects, amp models/
stomp boxes, and loops from the same pedal. Add the other expression
pedal and you have entered the twilight zone of control. 2 assignable
function switches too. Noise gates (3) and compressor (3) nods go to
the G9. 5 patches per bank vs. 4 on the TLSE.
That's a mouthful. The G9 takes a huge edge in most effects, control,
and expression. Also, the efx loop has send/return programmable levels
to tame or boost models. I am not the type that needs this much
control. If you are, the G9 is for you.
Connections: The TLSE and G9 compare well if you do not want to record
directly. The G9 sports a USB connection that makes many happy.
Vibe: The TLSE has got the vibe. Plain and simple! Yes, the G9 sounds
very good (emphasis on very good) with better flexibility/
capabilities. What is vibe?? I can only explain it as the feeling you
get when your sound gives you goose bumps/arm hairs stand up and your
just killing the audience with a sonic blast from planet Tonebone! It
really comes down to your personal needs/wants. If Vox would take
notes from Zoom, or the other way around...then we would all be able to
purchase an awesome (maybe the best) budget minded MFX floorboard.
Until then...I join the ranks of Monte/LD to love my TLSE and G9
equally. Both are killer in my book. |
