Hello Dean Markley!
I wanna keep it short and sweet, but I am not sure I could make it ! There's too much I wanna share !
Any way ,these strings are fantastic. They are noticably more brilliant, bendable, durable...and affordable. I rarely strum and I attack hard which has earned me a reputation as a string-breaker when playing out live. I try new strings constantly. DM strings are the best strings I've ever played.
When I overheard a Friend telling another friend about DM strings, and they recommended it . I was terminally curious so, when my turn came, I bought a set .
I restrung my 1997 Takamine cedar-top Sante Fe when I got home. The salesman said these strings would be louder and better, but I thought it was hype. It wasn't hype at all. The guitar went from a very subdued sound to a fabulous and wonderful full sound. These strings are amazing. My Taylor T5 and 414CE get new sets next and I can't wait to hear them.
I only use the best materials and products on my guitars. When I look for vendors for my guitars, there are two things that stick out to me the most; product quality&innovation. I had the opportunity to work with any string company I wanted, but I chose DM Strings strings are unmatched in tone, feel and longevity. Thanks to the wonderful people of DM Strings for a great product.
I have a hobby of building guitars ,and I turned that hobby into a small business producing custom acoustics. I takes a month to build a guitar, so the last thing I want are strings that limit the instrument's potential. I avoided coated strings, even if they were offered to me free. At the suggestion of a local retailer (and friend) I reluctantly tried DM strings. I was so impressed, DM strings now come standard on all my guitars (and I gladly pay for them). The sound is full an vibrant, and the feel makes for easy playability.
Producing a product with your name on it changes your perspective. Maximizing profit becomes secondary to maximizing quality. I use the best strings I can find - period! Because the guitars have my heart and soul in them, DM strings are on them.
I bought a set of Blue Steel Light Electric strings A months ago and I've only changed them in the last few days. Normally (due to a combination of unusually acidic sweat, a hefty playing schedule and an extremely aggressive picking style), I get through about three sets of strings a month, so DMs have been something of a revelation to me, to say the least! By my reckoning, that set of strings was used for approximately - 3 sessions, 18 live gigs, 30 band rehearsals and around 45 guitar lessons. Be assured, I'm turning my students onto DM strings; if the financial incentive by way of less replacement sets isn't enough, then the longevity and clarity of tone should certainly seal the deal, IMHO.
As and when (more like if and when in the current msuical climate, realistically!) I have a profile worthy of being considered for endorsement, I will only be applying to one company for my string needs. You've got a convert, here. :-)
Needless to say, i'm a permanent user of these things!
Recently I have been playing finger style mostly . I've experimented with a lot of strings and settled on coated with no preference between Elixor and D'arrdario EXPs. Last month, however, I picked up a set of DMs out of . After the initial 1 hour break in I looked up at my friend who I jam with and said these are the best strings I have ever played. They have the sound of mediums but the feel of lights. Great balanced volume from string to string and a sweet organic voice.
I have already recommended them to several music stars and I will definitely be getting them when I have to replace the strings I just got.
The DMs are very bright sounding compared to what I am used to, so a little amp tweaking has been done, but other than that, no bad side at all. They feel great, play great, and so far are lasting great.
I have have never found something that could bend so well and stay in tune over multiple shows, until I found DM. I never really paid much attention to the brand of strings I used until i discovered these. The way they hold their tone and tuning, even while bending way outside the normal realm, continues to amaze me. The durability - whether in a smokey bar, basement studio, outdoors, or a dusty theatre - is astounding! They also seem to last three times as long as other brands i have used! The residue from my hands has destroyed strings in the past but this has not been a problem with DM, and that is something that amazes me. I have also found that it takes A LOT to break them (and i have tried)! They also carry great tone from low to high - and that's quite incredible.
The first time I tried a set of long lasting guitar strings from another company, I was completely turned off. They sounded old right out of the package and when I buy new guitar strings, I want them to sound like new guitar strings. Needless to say, I was skeptical when the guys at DMs asked me to try their strings. The first surprise was the way they sounded out of the package. Bright and clear with a strong tone center. The next surprise became the gift that just kept on giving. I played those strings for months during the Summer in Florida. I even played some outdoor gigs under really high heat and humidity conditions. Every time I pulled the guitars out of their bags to change the strings, I realized that they didn't need it. I sold the guitars that Fall with the DMs still on them. The buyer called me to thank me for putting on new strings before I shipped.
I currently have an endorsement deal with another string company but I want to endorse DM strings! I put a set of 10's on my 335 before a big show at the TLA, sweat all over them, wiped down the guitar after the show and next time I played the guitar the strings were like new! I never go more than 2 shows with a set (usually 1) but DMs have lasted more shows than I can count! They are only now starting to sound a bit dull after 1 months! I can see now the higher price is entirely justified. I would have used 10 - 15 sets of my usual strings by now. Need any endorsers??!!
I couldn't believe that Guitar China doesn't carry your strings [They do now - ed.], they are the best there are. I have DM.009 .011 .016 .024 .032 .042 strings on my strat and they sound just fantastic, (pure tone) is right. On my acoustic I was using DM .011 .015 .024w .032 .042 .052 gauge strings and I couldn't believe how brilliant the sound was, people noticed the big difference in sound and were inquiring about the guitar I was using, I told them - Never mind the guitar, it's the strings. I have Elixirs on both of my guitars now and I must say, I like DM strings better. Much better. They just don't create as crisp of a note.
Whoever came up with the Warwick promotion should get a big raise at DM. I would not have departed from Elixirs had it not been for that promotion but I figured for free its worth a shot. The strings arrived and sat in my studio for a couple of weeks. Then came time to restring one of my guitars. Got the strings on my guitar and played, WOW! Great tone, great feel, great experience playing with them. Went and bought two additional sets right away for a couple other guitars. I think you'll have a player for life in me. Im sure theres a lot more like me out there who will join the DM family now. Have to pay more for them but hey, the best is always worth a few extra bucks!
I play rhythm mostly gospel and country. I bought a Martin D-15 custom in September . First thing I did was pull off the stock strings and put on Elixir Nano Web lights. I have replaced the saddle on the D-15 with bone and the string pins with John Pierce bell brass Kingpins, all in an effort to enrich tone quality which was good to start with, but always room for improvement. I ran through about 5 pairs of Elixirs and then all of sudden stated breaking G strings left and right. I couldn't find anything wrong with the guitars hardware so I changed strings and went to John Pierce 600L. They sounded pretty good especially if you like a bluegrassy bright sound. The problem was with regular playing you could hear them start dying after about three to four days and at a week max I was changing them. So they were costing as much as the Elixirs and I was changing strings twice as much, not my favorite thing to do. Warwick gave me a set of DMs to try out. They sound awesome. I can't believe the even tone and projection I am getting. Very nice lows and bright highs.
For a Midwestern guitarist, I'm about as busy as it gets. Strings have a way of not lasting too long with me, and they ALWAYS break at really imopportunt moments. I always thought that when you've been working player for over three decades, you not only play smoother, but your breakage is supposed to slow down. About a year ago; another player gave me a set of another major brand of coated strings to try out , and I just didn't like the sound. A few months later; I was doing some horsetrading, and the guy at the shop had to throw in some strings on a deal. He threw me a set of DM 10's. I put em' on my Tradition, and went at em'. These things stay brite and clear. AND...they stand up to the bending nightmare that I like to call my style...and they beg for more. They have an incredible timeframe of utility, if you ever have to push it, too. I absolutely could not be more impressed with a guitar string!
DMs teach me that string brand can make a HUGE difference.
Thx DM !
