One I've been looking for, for awhile. Great jazz/fusion bassist.
The Portrait of J." is an original instrumental fusion jazz CD that mixes rock, funk, R&B, blues and Latin rhythm. Strong melodies and a groovy rhythm feature Brian's innovative and unique electric bass playing. The other talented musicians on this CD include Mike McLaughlin and Roberto Zayas on guitars, Fred Lu on keys, and Xiao Bai and Alan Wong on drums.
Brian has been a professional bassist for over 20 years. He has done numerous studio dubbing works and has been touring with various artists around Asia and U.S.A. Brian wrote and released his bass curriculum, "Complete Bass Playing" in 2002. His first solo CD, "The Portrait of J." was released in 2004.
Here are some notes from Brian about this recording:
I had a complete melody line in my head when I walked out of this modern art museum in Chicago. This evolved into track #1, Chicago Shuffle. Boracay Island was written after my first visit to this beautiful island in the Philippines. In The Park, is a melody I started humming one summer afternoon as I played with my son in the park. The Portrait of J. is a song that I wrote for my wife.
1 Chicago Shuffle 4:10
2 Nap Time 4:52
3 The Portrait of J. 4:43
4 In the Park 5:54
5 What's the Thing Called Love? 5:26
6 Pressure 5:01
7 Boracay Island 6:05
8 Sars Blues 5:34
