一、Steve Vai即将发行他的全新力作The Story of Light！

近日，从Steve Vai官方信息得知，这位传奇的吉他大师将于8月14日发布他的新专辑《The Story of Light》，这是它的第十六张个人唱片，将在他自己的厂牌Favored Nations唱片发行。

七年之前的Real Illusions Reflections（2005）

看新专辑封面可知，这张专辑将延续他2005年发布的专辑《Real Illusions: Reflections》所叙述的故事。
“我总是在不断的探求知识，我是一个精神平衡的探索者。音乐是这其中的很大一部分，”对于专辑的主题，Steve Vai说道，“这些年里，我非常执迷于这些想法。”
据透露：未来的日子这个故事将还会有三部曲，即是还可能再出一张专辑延续！七年之前，Vai 集合了 David Bowie，Annie Lennox，Lenny Kravitz，Madonna 一众天皇巨星，为他写下的一个形容精神病看世界故事录音的庞大计划，虽然最后亦是因档期问题而无法完成，但並未減退其野心，Vai 一众決定独力完成這个计划，成为了 "Real Illusions:Reflections"专辑，亦是个個故事的开始！
七年之后，Vai再次延续这个故事，这张拥有12首歌的专辑里面包含了大量的乐器演奏，不过同时也有Beverly McClellan和Aimee Mann所贡献的人声部分，他们的演唱将出现在这张专辑的歌曲《No More Amsterdam》中。音乐灵感来自蓝调歌手Blind Willie Johnson！

The Story of Light has been a work in progress for the past 7 years preceeding Real Illusions: Reflections as the newest studio album since then. As of August 14th, part 2 of the Real Illusions story will be officially available for all the world to embrace. While there is still much yet to be revealed about The Story of Light, there are a few details that have been canonized.

The album will have 12 songs, mostly instrumental as expected, though there will be some female vocals performed by Beverly McClellan and Aimee Mann on a song called “No More Amsterdam”. The title of the 7th song on the track, the slot for Vai’s trademark ballad on each of his albums, has also been revealed to be “Mullach A’TSi”.

The platinum package, in addition to the audio CD, includes a 7” vinyl featuring two songs (“John the Revelator” and “Book of The Seven Seals”), 3 plantable The Story of Light seeded postcards, a set of Steve Vai signature guitar picks, a 32 page booklet, a special edition DVD with a yet to be seen interview with the man himself talking about The Story of Light.

苦等五年之长的G3现场音乐会于2012年举行！

每一个喜欢摇滚吉他的人对G3应该都不会陌生，Joe Satriani、Steve Vai师徒二人再加上一个知名吉他手，组成现场乐队大秀琴技，过瘾得不得了。现在得知G3巡演会在2012年3月开展，波波先生十分期待

根据国外官方消息，2012的G3巡回演唱会即将开展，这次的阵容除了元老级的Joe Satriani、Steve Vai外，加入了Steve Lukather，并且2012年3月G3巡演会来到新西兰和澳大利亚。

众所周知，我们熟悉的G3音乐会于1996年创建，由世界顶级吉他大师Joe Satriani发起的G3巡演，每次巡演Joe都会邀请两位世界级高手一同巡演，1996年的G3参加成员为Joe Satriani & Eric Johnson & Steve Vai，2003年的G3参加成员是Joe Satriani & Steve Vai & Yngwie Malmsteen，2005年的G3参加成员是Joe Satriani & Steve Vai & John Petrucci，2007年的G3参加成员是Paul Gilbert&John Petrucci&Joe Satriani，这也是最近一次的G3巡演了，这个吉他盛宴让我们苦等了5年之长，明年3月这场令人振奋激动的摇滚盛事终于来临，而且除了我们熟悉的Joe Satriani、Steve Vai外加入了Steve Lukather，Steve Lukathe原是TOTO乐队的吉他手，但是steve Lukather在作为toto乐队吉他手的时候，并没有在乐队中突出他高超的吉他演奏技术，而是安分的演奏着，直到他的个人专集发行，才让人们认识了steve Lukather，一个可以把吉他弹的飞快，也可以弹的很柔美的大师。而且他还是技巧超强的录音室吉他手，包办了80年多数大牌艺人专辑的吉他，包括吉他之神 Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac 的 Stevie Nicks, Michael Jackson 的重要里程碑 Thriller 专辑, Eagles 的 Don Henley, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, 民谣老人 Joni Mitchell, 爵士大团 Manhattan Transfer, 老披头 Paul McCartney等等太多了！

实际上每年的G3 LIVE我都会购买收藏着，各人的独奏都非常到位，之后的合奏也令人耳目一新，虽然有很多老曲目，不过在那样的现场环境下，即使平时不怎么喜欢摇滚乐的人也会喜欢那样的乐曲，除了2007年由于没有官方的DVD版质量有所下降外，前几场的效果都非常好极具收藏价值，期待2012年有官方DVD推出！

2012年4月，澳大利亚音乐节 G3 再次上演

澳洲的这次吉他聚会，将会有许多的吉他英雄出现，布鲁斯音乐节在澳洲是始于1990年的，这次的聚会同样吸引来了世界各地的吉他高手齐聚一堂来给乐迷们来一场盛宴，2012年4月澳大利亚将会再次上演吉他英雄G3聚会！Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather三位吉他英雄齐聚澳洲布鲁斯音乐节！

Steve Vai拍卖他在八十年代的Marshall音箱

Steve Vai近日在eBay发布了一件有趣的商品：一套改装过的Marshall音箱，Vai用这套音箱录制了David Lee Roth在1986年的唱片《Eat 'Em and Smile》，并且使用它完成了当年的巡演。
Vai发布的这套商品包括100瓦，带有四个输入的Marshall JMP Plexi箱头，连同与之匹配的“白脸”4X12箱体。起拍价为1000美元。
该拍品的部分收益将捐赠给Make-a-Noise Fund基金会，用于乐器与音乐的教育活动。

在80年代，制作人Ted Templeman在纽约录制《Eat 'Em and Smile》时，Steve Stevens提供了这台100瓦Marshall音箱，之后Lee Jackson根据Steve Vai的要求对音箱进行了改装。
这台Plexi箱头设有额外的增益档，频率调节钮，效果器回路和主音量控制。在洛杉矶的一次维护时更换了Drake变压器与KT88功率管以及手工选取的前级电子管。箱体中装配了Celestion Vintage 30扬声器，音箱与箱体均有Steve Vai的亲笔签名。

For sale: Steve Vai’s Marshall 100 watt 4 input JMP Plexi & matching “white face” 4×12 cabinets used on David Lee Roth’s “Eat Em and Smile” record and the 1986-1988 David Lee Roth tour.

The 100 watt Marshall JMP was given to Ted Templeman by Steve Stevens during the NYC recording sessions for “Eat Em and Smile.” The amp was then modded to Steve’s liking by Lee Jackson, famous for performing sought after custom modifications to Marshall amplifiers for top artists in the 1980′s and 1990′s. It was Steve's main amp for the "Eat Em and Smile"sessions and used on the entire David Lee Roth tour. The 100 watt plexi head features an extra gain stage, frequency adjust control, effects loop & master volume. The head has been well maintained in Los Angeles and features matching Drake transformers, KT88 quad-matched power tubes & hand-selected pre-amp tubes to Steve’s liking.

The twin 4×12 cabinets are outfitted with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers made in Ipswich, England. Both cabinets bear Steve’s signature, certification & are in perfect working order. This is your chance to bid on a historical piece of equipment used by a legendary performer in their international breakthrough role. This is an official Vai.com auction. 今年的G3欧洲版巡演乐章将在7/8月份由两位原始领衔人物Joe Satriani和Steve Vai配上深紫乐队的老将Steve Morse共同谱写，目前敲定的日程如下：7/21，德国奥芬巴赫；7/23，德国慕尼黑；7/24，德国汉堡；8/1，匈牙利布达佩斯；8/5，俄罗斯莫斯科，更多的行程不断添加中。
