POD既是一个音箱模拟器，同时也是一款数码合成效果器。在录音方面，依靠其放大器模拟（AMP MODELS）及音箱模拟（CABINET MODELS），可以直接录制吉他声音（李延亮录制《那一年》时就采用这种方法）。在现场设置方面，比起其他的前置放大器有更多的音调和灵活性，可以连接调音台或专业音响来作输出。通过LINE 6的官方网站还可以对POD的声音库进行不断扩展。
