Kaare Norge has the dimensions of a new star in the making. That it should glow above the horizon of scandinavia should surprise no one.

Kaare Norge joue Bach,Rodrigo,Paganini
On pourra

”A MORE THAN ABLE GUITARIST”
Kaare Norge’s first record demonstrates a more than able guitarist - and a particularly promising musician.I do not know how they will pronounce his name abroad. What I do know is that this first recording - for a multinational company, mind you - is a fine card for this 26-year-old, Aarhus-based guitarist. He has even aranged two of the works himself, Bach’s Partita i D major and Paganini’s Sonata in E minor, the latter in cooperation with the master Manuel Barrueco, whom Kaare Norge has studied under. His arrangement and especially his presentation of Bach’s Partita amply convince you that the guitar is an instrument well suited for polyphonous music. The melodic lines stand out clearly and with direction, and the different sound registers in which the music unfolds have been clearly separated without being isolated. Knows how to emphasize and weight. Primarily, what captures one is Kaare Norge’s eminent sense of rhythm and phrasing. He knows extremely well how to emphasize and weight his music from one bar to the next, so as to strike a fine balance of composure and drive, in the fast as well as in the slow movements. This helps to emphasize the dance character of the music, in the Bach-Partita as well as in Rodrigo’s fascinating ”Three Spanish Pieces”, without losing sight (or sound) of the melodic qualities of the two works.
Berlingske Tidende, Oct. 16th, 1989 - Jacob Levinsen.
”RODRIGO, PAGANINI AND BACH IN GOOD HANDS”
Kaare Norge plays his Bach with exquisite technique, and yet at the same time with a distinct sense of the beauty of sound which recalls ”Segovia”. This recording is unique, in artistic terms as well as in terms of the quality of sound engineering. A beautiful and promising debut.

”GREAT GUITARIST”
A splendid 2nd album from the Aarhus talent. Kaare is in everything he does an extremely good technician, with hardly a trace of the guitarists´ eternal problem - the irrelevant sound of fingers gliding over the strings. But first of all he is a brilliant artist with a highly developed consciouness of his own artistic effects and a gift for using them so that the result is sensed with clarity. This is a very good CD from the Danish Guitarist Kaare Norge. He has all the technique, talent and musicianship it takes to be a top-notch international guitarist, all he needs now is a little luck.
Colin Cooper - Classical Guitar Magazine.1991. England
”ALBENIZ ON THE GUITAR”
The Danish guitarist Kaare Norge has made a new record. Whereas his first record presented transcriptions of J. S. Bach; on the present recording he concentrates on Spanish guitar music, with a focus on Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909), who wove Ibearian folk music into his works Works originally written for piano, but which have also found their way to the guitar via several competent guitarists. And not a very long and winding road, especially not in Kaare Norge’s transcriptions. What stands out, however, is Kaare Norge’s guitar playing, which unites clarity and temperament.Technical command lends value to every single note, which is to the point in this kind of Spanish music, which otherwise has a sentimental appeal. This CD also contains works by Lauro and Kristian Borregaard, as well as film scores composed by Kaare Norge himself.
Berlingske Tidende, May 13th, 1991 - SCS.
”BEAUTIFUL BREACH OF STYLE”
Kaare Norge (27) is the best shot these days at an international career. His fingering technique has resulted in an excellent CD, which does justice not only to Spain, but also to Danish sensibility A beatiful breach of style, one might say. Played so wonderfully as to make one believe that it had all been written for the guitar.
Vendsyssel Stiftende, April 6th, 1991 - Carl Skøtt
”KAARE NORGE”
The musical signals are quite right. The other pieces by Albeniz testify to superior musicality , courage and technique in abundance: The Malaguenas really take off.
Aarhus Stifstidende, March 22nd, 1991- Ole Straarup.
”CLASSICAL MUSIC THAT REACHES OUT”
The talented classical guitarist Kaare Norge has released a record. A brilliant one, containing masterly played works by Albeniz, Paganini, Sanz and Kaare Norge himself.
Ringkjøbing Amts Dagblad, May 14th, 1991 - F. Nordentoft.
”SPANISH IN TWO WAYS”
His playing in Denmark and abroad, whether in concert or on his new record for CBS, has won him much praise. 27-year-old Kaare Norge is not just anybody, and “Tango” is characterized by a composure and a mastery which only great insight and perfect technique can bring.
Aalborg Stiftstidende, March 30th, 1991 - Junk.
”FINE ”DANISH” CLASSICAL STRING PLAYS”
Norge has turn out to be a good bet. It is understanable when you listen to the ”Danish” equilibristic string play. Together with Albeniz, Paganini and Antonio Lauro, Kaare Norge does well with a couple of fine self-composed numbers that makes the listener feel in more than good company.

”CON AMORE”
This impressive production by young guitarists leaves no doubt that the recording of ”Con Amore” is characterized by what is understood as perfect technique. Right from the very first movements one notices perfect co-ordination, striking at once powerful and light, rhythmical precision, expressive legato, all of which make the guitar sing with a sound at once round and free of all contact noise. In that respect the Danish guitarist sports technique without restraint in Paganini’s First and Third Sonatas for violin and guitar. Such command spares the listener all speculation and leaves him free to really enjoy the music. I strongly recommend this CD to all amateurs who worry about a good performance.
F. FERNANDEZ-LAVIE, La Guitare Magazin, France
”DANISH NORGE IS INTERNATIONAL” *****
There is nothing sickly or cloying, but on the other hand great wing span and elastic dynamism in the way that the young guitarist here gives expression to the old Italian and Spanish works on a new disc. It is an international star-career.
BT, April 21th, 1993. - Birgitte Grue.
”GUITAR WITH BITE AND EDGES”
Except for the disc-title ”Con Amore” you can only have respect for the guitarist Kaare Norge. He has been able to get a rock-company, Genlyd, interested in classic music, with everything that they unlike sadly many classic companies - know about modern marketing, in disc-shops, mass media, and the audience which of course could be indifferent if Kaare Norge did not play as well as he does. There are both bite and edges in his guitar playing, and it is absolutely favourably meant.
Berlingske Tidende, Dec 23th, 1992. - Jacob Levinsen.
”WORLD CLASS CLASSICAL GUITAR MUSIC”
29-year-old Kaare Norge’s talent on the guitar is beyond words. It should be heard, and indeed can be heard, on his third, distinguished CD, where the emphasis is put on Spanish and Italian music, both baroque and romantic.
Amtsavisen Randers, Dec 10th,1992 - ps-k
”A FINE LISTENING EXPERIENCE”
Kaare Norge is a fine interpreter. Partly he is technically gifted, partly a fine interpreter. His many shades of sound and dynamic movements help to make this record a fine listening experience.

Kaare Norge has luck with his effort; to show the facets of an instrument which owns numerous of them, by seducing the listeners with music which he would make successful, arranged in a very intelligent and sophisticated way and executed perfectly. All of it very colourful.

”LA GUITARRA”
Boundless - here is everything which can please lovers of guitarmusic. Bearing in mind his former discs you get a clear feeling that he has placed himself on a plane which goes far beyond the boundary of Denmark - and his talent is in constant development.

”NORGE`S ENJOY-DISC”
Kaare once more published a well composed CD. Kaare Norge has a good grasp of the traditional guitarmusic. There is a natural flow in his interpretations. A successful CD.
Århus Stiftstidende, Sep 8th, 1994 - Ole Straarup
”A WAY INTO THE WORLD OF THE GUITAR”
”La Guitarra” - the fourth album in record time from the virtuoso guitarist. The Danish guitarist Kaare Norge is as only few domestic guitarists able with his play to combine the disciplined classic music with the more relaxed popular-tunes. The listener is let into the warmth and poetic world of the guitar. Kaare Norge has made a new, catchy album.
Kalundborg Folkeblad, Sep 17th, 1994. - SA.
”WELL MIXED”
Let it be known at once: Kaare Norge`s new CD is a publication that makes you feel good. The young Danish guitarist`s fourth CD has been released - a mixed pleasure with pleasure underlined. Kaare Norge has recorded a CD which shows his great talent in music from the early baroque to the tones of nowadays.Spanish tradition - it is the Spanish guitar-tradition which prevails on the CD. A tradition of which Kaare Norge masters every inch. In works of Yradier, Ponce, Barrios, Romeo, and Torrega who all of them are Spaniards or Latin Americans you get warmth, fervour, and superior technique in a perfect sound-image.

KAARE NORGE has a formidable ability to control the sound of the guitar accurately and very musically. There are both intensity and depth in his playing.Fyns Stiftstidende, Sep 28th. 1996 - Svend E. Sørensen
It is remarkably well played, not a note stays away, and the performance is indeed extremely exact and virtuos . Kaare Norge remains a guitarist of a great calibre. ”BAROQUE AND TANGO”
When listening to Jacob Gade`s ”Tango Jalousie” played on classic guitar in a masterly varied transcription, are new aspects promoted of the genius of the tune. It becomes so to speak a link in a powerful musical movement in kinship to the baroque, and it seems quite natural that Denmark`s leading guitarist Kaare Norge has chosen ”Tango Jalousie” as prelude for his new CD ”Movements”. After Jacob Gade follows Bach`s E-dur suite, lively played in the melodious richness of the work, and also compositions of Bach`s contemporaries Francois Couperin, Sylvius L. Weiss, and Domenico Scarlatti. The lastnamed is heard in a sensitive sonata, and just as quiet is the rondo of Couperin that Kaare Norge plays. The record contains further compositions of M. Preatorius, Frescobaldi, M. Lobett. The brilliant geometry of the baroque-music sounds on Kaare Norge`s classic guitar with this spatial purity which re-creates the virtuosly decorated clarity of the baroquemusic, and he connects it wonderfully with Jacob Gade`s symbolism.
Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten, Oct 12th, 1996. - Hans Andersen
”CONVINCING GUITARDISC FROM KAARE NORGE”
It teems with brilliant phrasing details and timbre-change and the tempi which are chosen, are vivaciously convincing. Norge has succeeded in transplanting “Tango Jalousie” for guitar in such a way that it sticks to its fieriness and reclining sensuality. And he plays it brilliantly. ”Movements” is a highly successful publication.
Aarhus Stiftstidende, Sep 17th, 1996.- Ole Straarup
”CLASSIC FASCINATION”

Kaare Norge has transcribed Jacob Gade`s ”Tango Jalousie” to classic guitar which no one has done before - and it has become a superversion of one of the most popular tunes of the world. ”LOVELY HITS FROM NORGE” *****
”Morning has broken” is a very successful CD. Deservedly it has potential to be a Christmashit. Much junk achieves the same predicate. But in favour of Kaare Norge speaks that he - in spite of the light and sentimental repertoire - holds on to the fact that the music shall have the vigour of live music.

”KAARE NORGE`S CHRISTMAS” *****
Actually the guitarist Kaare Norge with “Christmas” has created one of the most elegant Christmas records in recent years. Simply by turning over the pile with up to 500 years old and therefore - you might expect worn-out season-hits, to play them once again, solo, or together with the Kassandra quartette which consists of Eva Paulin on first violin, Li--eth Sagen on second violin, Charlotte Borchorst on viola, and Dorthe Rolf on cello. It may seem too easy or evident, but tunes in which it after all ought to be impossible to hear anything as ”Det kimer nu”, ”Dejlig er jorden”, og ”Glade jul” get really a very pleasant, almost renewed tone, thanks to the airy and yet copious atmosphere which reign in ”Christmas” that has got a highly relaxed quality - but just without being boring or long-drawn-out.Suddenly many of the 13 much-abused themes - plus Kaare Norge`s own ”Noche Buena” seem almost as created to a single crisp guitar and an elegant peal of string players and with ”Christmas” Kaare Norge & co.has reached their target: To create a disc which is able to give mood for all the Christmasdays, but strictly speaking it can also be enjoyed in other times of the year, just because of its mood.
Nordjyske Stiftidende, Dec 18th, 1999
”PURE ANGELIC SOUND ON CHRISTMAS CD”
If you do not come in Christmasmood by listening to this CD, you are definitely beyond reach. The tunes stream clearly and beautifully from the guitar and in several cases the guitartones are presented wrapped up as a gift in harmony from the string players of the Kassandra quartette. On the CD is also his own ”Noche Buena” which goes well with the company.

”ELEGANT AND PLAIN”
The disc is vacuumed for pop. The whole thing is loaded with seriousness and therefore is ”Højt fra træets grønne top” not on the disc even though it supposedly is the most used song on Christmas Eve. If you will, there is the religion in the tones,so you can, if you please, quiet and with your eyes closed play the whole CD in a moment of pleasure and thoughtfulness. It is real true music and there should be a prohibition against playing the disc on the muzak-device in every department store. So beautiful, so essential, and so consistent is it.

Is that all??? It is almost too easy. It is the thoughts you get when you look at the list of titles. Sheer old acquaintances .....! But in the hands of the Århus masterguitarist Kaare Norge it suddenly makes good sense. He takes his time to explore and deploy the actual tunes carefully and shows that they in fact are very elegant when all the hysterical irrelevant finery are removed. Such is Kaare Norge`s new record. A beautiful and extremely tasteful going through his personal favourites.

”VARIED STRING-PLAY”
Kaare Norge (guitar) in Rachs Pakhus (Rønne Bornholm)
Thursday, Nov 21th, 2002The concert of the evening in Rachs Pakhus was arranged in such a way that it showed the instruments and the practising musician from their best. It had clearly some advantages, but also some disadvantages which I later on will return to. The guitarist Kaare Norge presented both Spanish classis music, music from South America and more light, popular tones. In this way the mixed audience was fully considered.Only few countries have in the equal extent as Spain added to the guitar-literature so many and so unique works. It was from this country that the soloist of the evening to a wide extent got his interpretations - and thanks for that, because in the expressions from this is so much good stuff and so violent and exciting contrasts. Pride and coolness which almost touch musical arrogance contrary warm, animating tunes from all the register. Not that the first mentioned things were heard in the opening work, the little ”Tanguillo” of Miguel Abloniz (b. 1917), here we got the sensitive poetics, attention and the elegance in the arrangement and the general attention which is demanded of the audience. The work gave us some hints about what we could expect. Two things marked Kaare Norge`s playing: The consequent clarity in the expression and the never fading fine balance between light and darkness, Major and Minor scales that were as constantly streaming rivulets in his music.Perhaps this found its most vivid expression in Norge´s interpretaion of the century old ballad ”Scarborough Fair”, best known of course in Simon & Garfunkel´s version. So as hinted above, we witnessed some short interpretations and although we could have wished for some longer works, those that we got were full of intensity and liveliness. You cannot take the competence from Kaare Norge. It demands a subtle balance and a great technical power to go from a piece complicated baroque music of Heinrich Schultz to a virtuosly playing Uruguayan samba, but besides the technique the soloist had also one - in long periods - great sonority to draw upon. I have mentioned the balance. As a matter of fact I find that Kaare Norge had his greatest force in the version and the arrangement of the many Spanish, classic interpretations. It was as if the aspect of time here had a longer leash and as if phrasings and the occasional cadences in this respect were at their best.If wearing more negative glasses I could have wished a more spatial tone in just the classic pieces. A sixstring guitar with plasticstrings will never be able to produce as much spatiality as a Spanish twelvestring guitar- no matter how good the guitar player. Besides a second set came which not in the same way, at any rate for yours truely, offered the same listening-challenges as the first one. But that is of course a choice which the soloist makes before the concert and that you willingly accept when you have an opportunity to be a listener to varied stringplay generally and to a virtuoso, to-himself-listening-guitarist.
Bornholms Tidende, Nov 22th, 2002 - Poul Lund

”CLASSIC RECORDS:”
Danish guitarplay is generally on a high level. The best known guitarist is Kaare Norge who has understood to sell his music to a wide audience. He has made the instrument popular so that it also benefites other guitarists.Kaare Norge`s music is a good compound of classics and sterlingly popular. This also applies his newest CD which however is oriented more towards the classic with Spanish guitarcomposers and a piano-andante by Mozart arranged by Norge himself who has also composed a couple of small pieces. He rounds catchingly up with an Alborade of Juan Martin and his own arrangement of Jacob Gade`s ”Tango Jalousie”. It is a CD for the whole family at a high level.
Jyllands-Posten, June 10th, 2002 - John Christiansen
”AS SPANISH AS IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS”
Kaare Norge knows how to make Spanish phrasings: self-conscious, delightful and with a trace of seduction. For years he has been practising this art and his new CD shows us that he still masteres the art. He gets his music from the limited univers of Spanish-Latin American composers and adds his own compositions and transcriptions. This time Mozart and Jacob Gade (respectively the 2nd movement from piano sonata K. 331 and Tango Jalousie) have delivered the original material and Norge has great success with the pieces, especially Mozart as his work is less ”orchestrally” demanding. As a composer Norge does not break new ground but he captures the feeling with his lyrical music.
