Raimundo
Raimundo is a high quality range, constructed in Valencia, Spain since 1968. They have a sweetness of tone which has projection and clarity. The finish with all the models is of a consistently high standard .
The light coloured tops are spruce and the darker orange, cedar. This is a subject
of personal preference and is not a guide to quality. In recent years John Williams has played cedar and Julian Bream spruce. Cedar is generally regarded as having a
warmer tone, with more volume, and spruce has clarity but is considered to
take more time to mature. Cedar has more popularlarity, with many finding the appearance more attractive.
Model 104M has a matt finish, all others are gloss. 104M and 104B have Bubinga
back and sides, 112, 118 & 123 laminated mahogany & 125 maple. All these have rosewood fingerboards. Models of a higher price have ebony fingerboards. 128
has laminated rosewood back and sides, 130 and 140 solid rosewood sides and laminated backs, 136 has solid mahogany back and sides and 138 solid walnut.
Models 146 and above have solid rosewood back and sides. 145 and 160 are flamenco guitars with solid cypress back and sides. The best models i.e. 155
and 180 Especial are hand made from the finest woods. Model 180 has brazilian rosewood back and sides, which is quite exceptional at this price. All other
models have indian rosewood.
Scale lengths of these models are 650mm.
Smaller Instruments
C8s, C15s and C18s are slightly smaller instruments with a scale length of 630mm. These are constructed from the same materials as 118, 128 and 130 respectively and suit adults with smaller hands (or even players who may like to find playing a
little easier!). Body sizes are also slightly scaled down. Models 1491 and 1498
have 530mm scale lengths and are for use as either children's instruments or
as requintos in ensembles. 1492 has a scale of 610mm and is a Senorita guitar..
Electro Classicals
These are becoming increasingly popular. New models recently introduced are
the 120E with cedar top and ovangkol back and sides (non-cutaway) and 630E cutaway, spruce with sycamore back and sides. These have the Fishman Classic 4 bridge pick up system fitted.
Model 610E has mahogany back and sides and 660E rosewood. Both are with cutaway. Shallow bodied versions are also available. These are fitted with the Fishman Prefix Pro Blend system which combines an interior microphone with
a bridge pick up.
Scale lengths are 650mm.
