As you can see by the pictures, the original finish on this bass is the nicest sunburst I have ever found, don't you agree?! The bass looks incredible. This is because it has always been closet kept. The neck and frets shows virtually NO wear. A stunningly beautiful bass, and the sound is better then you could hope for.
Featuring a sunburst body, maple neck, black pickguard, string thru-body, three bolt neck and yes... this bass is absolutely 100% original. The original Hard Shell Case is also in great shape.The neck is stamped: March 08, 1977 and the body is stamped Feb 28, 1977 and the pots date to the 48th week of 1976 (7648)
The pre-amp has black epoxy as it should and the wiring is untouched. The pickup also features the very early deep pole pieces.

The Bongo features include an evolved artistic shape, advanced electronics, color coordination and a patented compensated nut that greatly improves intonation according to the company.
Several Music Man artists including Tony Levin, Dave LaRue, Cliff Hugo and Phil Chen provided input and testing during the initial development of the Bongo. The basses are constructed with basswood bodies, maple necks, choice of pickup configurations, and available in 4- or 5-string models.
