Many composers who were inspired by Andres Segovia offered their works to him.Among these composers was Tedesco who wrote many pieces for the guitar. I've been playing these works since my childhood. I selected his music to play in an international competitions for guitarists, and I've been playing many of his pieces in different concerts in Japan and abroad. Holding a one-night recital specialized in his works was a rare opportunity.
These composers learned Western classical music, but because of their diverse Asian cultural backgrounds, I expect they can incorporate into their music something that European composers lack. For the last few years, I've been working on a project in collaboration with young composers who are living in Asia. I've found there is a lot that I as a player and they as composers have a lot to share, and it's an enjoyable experience.
