agathis is usually found in cheap guitars. This isnt necesarily becauseit sounds bad, but more because it grows in abundance in asiancountries where companies outsource their cheaper guitars to.
Therefore you'll rarely find a good guitar with agathis.
A few luthiers do say that agathis has some nice qualities(search google) so it isnt a bad wood.
IMO, its darker than alder and a little muddier, but with heavy stringsit makes for a good guitar wood. Its very bassy and light-ish.
Its not the best wood in the world of course, but one its cheap forcompanies to use and when you get a good sample it will sound quitenice.
like RGman says, companies usually use what woods are most easily available in the region.
alder琴身和mahogany琴身音色区别是根本性的,Seymour Duncan的humbucker和DiMarzio的humbucker声音之间的区别是表象性的……怎么看是你自己的问题。有几本书你可以看看,《Make Your Own Electric Guitar》by Melvyn Hiscock和Brian May,《Building Electric Guitars: How to Make Solid-Body, Hollow-Body and Semi-Acoustic Electric Guitars and Bass Guitars》by Martin Koch,这两本书都有对这个问题的讨论。如果有问题你可以跟作者争论。
