Boris Björn Bagger was born in Karlsruhe. He studied at the Karlsruhe conservatory as well as in Freiburg under Mario Sicca and Sonja Prunnbauer. He took master-courses under Julian Bream, Narciso Yepes, Wolfgang Lendle and Siegfried Behrend. In 1978, Bagger co-founded the Camerata Karlsruhe, whose leader he is today. He founded the "Deutsche Gitarrenquartett" (German Guitar Quartet) in 1989. He plays with the Ensemble 13 under Manfred Reichert as well as the Badisches Staatstheater (Baden State Theatre) as a regular guest. Bagger has worked with several renowned soloists such as Martin Ostertag, Tabea Zimmermann, Kalle Randalu, Norma Sharp, Detlef Tewes and Jean-Claude Gérard as well as conductors including Pierre Boulez and Michael Gielen. He showed his versatility on concert tours throughout Europe and in Canada as well as in radio recordings (over a hundred with almost all public stations in Germany, Finland and Estonia), CD recordings (20 CD's so far) and television appearances (Germany and USSR). Renowned composers have dedicated works to him (3 guitar concertos amongst others). Boris Björn Bagger has been teaching at the Karlsruhe conservatory since 1990. He now belongs to the "Villa Musica". In 1992, the city of Karlsruhe made him the artistic director of the "Europäische Kulturtage". As the first foreign artist, he received the Music Award of the Republic of Estonia in 1994 (Arvo Pärt is one of the prominent artists to have received this award). As a soloist with the following orchestras: SWF-Symphony Orchestra (Rodrigo "Concierto de Aranjuez", Vivaldi guitar concerts, Albrechtsberg double concert for flute and guitar with chamber orchestra), Baden-Baden Orchestra (Castelnuovo-Tedesco concert d-major), Baden State Orchestra (various guitar concerts), Estonian Chamber Orchestra (various guitar concerts). CD's: over 20 CD recordings, such as: guitar concerts with the Estonian Chamber Orchestra, guitar concerts by Albrechtsberger and Vivaldi with the SWF-Symphony Orchestra, duo with Martin Ostertag (Violoncello) for Ariola and Hoepfner Classics(Bella Musica), Original works for guitar and piano (with Kalle Randalu) for Melodia and Hoepfner Classics (Bella Musica), duo with Detlef Tewes (mandolin) for Hoepfner Classics, duo with Jean-Claude Gérard (flute) for Signum, duo with Marc Seiffge (guitar) for Bayer.
