Melissa Cross简介
Melissa Cross is a voice teacher from New York City. She was a student for many years at Interlochen Arts Academy and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in England. Though her background lies in traditional opera, she is the creator of The Zen of Screaming Instructional DVD, a DVD that teaches the art of singing referred to as 'screaming'.
She teaches 'growling' and 'screaming', and is the only known professional teacher in these forms of singing. Melissa Cross does not call the art of screaming singing, and asks all her students not to think of it as singing but screaming on a pitch.
Melissa has many notable students, whom she features on her DVDs.
Melissa Cross' first DVD was called "The Zen of Screaming: Vocal Instruction for a New Breed." This instructional DVD included appearances by Andrew W.K., Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, Shadows Fall's Brian Fair, Every Time I Die's Keith Buckley, God Forbid's Byron Davis, and Melissa Auf der Maur.
Melissa's second DVD was appropriately titled "The Zen of Screaming 2" and expanded on the instruction found in the first DVD. This title featured Spencer Chamberlain from Underoath, Trevor Phipps from Unearth, Geoff Rickly from Thursday, Philip Labonte from All That Remains, Mark Hunter from Chimaira, Robert Meadows from A Life Once Lost, Lou Koller from Sick of It All, Byron Davis from God Forbid, and Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy.
Cross was also a judge for the 7th annual Independent Music Awards to support independent artists. |
