Bagher Moazen/Classical Guitarist Biography
Bagher first studied classical music under Abdullah Mofakhar who introduced him to the delights of Spanish music. His next inspiration and teacher was the well-known French musician, Dr. Jean During.
In 1973, Bagher continued his studies in London. He met Joseph Urshalmi, and studied with him to improve his right-hand technique. Upon the recommendation of Julian Bream, this was followed by three years of intensive study with Timothy Walker who opened Bagher’s mind to revolutionary methods of fingering, articulation and interpretation.
Building on this, Bagher continued to refine his knowledge with John W. Duarte. While living in London, Bagher performed at the prestigious Wigmore Hall and was interviewed by the BBC World Service on his artistry as a musician and composer.
In 1979, Bagher returned to Iran to become the first teacher of the classical guitar for full-time students at the Royal Conservatory of Music. Later he opened his own school of music. However, by 1985, the political situation became impossible, as music was banned. He left once more to go to Germany and subsequently to Toronto, Canada.
Bagher has performed in Toronto at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music and for the Guitar Society of Toronto.
In 2003, Bagher released his CD, Nomad, featuring an international repertoire of music rich in melody and rhythm from composers such as Domeniconi, Lorca, Paco De Lucia, Dyens, Rak plus his own compositions. This CD was highlighted on CBC’s Music and Company, March 19, 2004. Tracks were also broadcast out of London, England at the beginning of June 2005 on the BBC.
As well as performing, Bagher continues to nurture a new generation of classical musicians. He has been teaching for over 45 years, using special methods that accelerate learning and provide maximum enjoyment of the learning process. He also specializes in the Suzuki method of teaching.
Bagher took part in the celebration of the guitar, honouring Eli Kassner's 80th Birthday on Saturday, September 18th, 2004 by the Guitar Society of Toronto and the University of Toronto. Bagher performed at Walter Hall, Toronto, with great guitarists like David Russell, Carlos Barbosa Lima, Celso Machado.
On May 20, 2005 Bagher Moazen performed a concert featuring the world premiere of Canadian composer Alan Torok’s Sonata #5 – a five-part Suite. Torok composed this music and dedicated it to Bagher. Also on June 18, 2005, this was played at Walter Hall, Toronto. The Guitar Society of Toronto has invited Bagher to perform in Toronto for four times, and his music has been broadcast from the BBC and CBC radio stations.
In October 2009 he performed at the Soroptimist Women’s fair.
He has been invited three times to play tango music for Club Milonga in Toronto and the Tango community invited him to perform once again in February 2010.

2004年9月18日，星期六，Bagher参加了由多伦多吉他协会和多伦多大学举办而敬献给Eli Kassner 80大寿的吉他庆祝会，与吉他大师大卫罗素、Carlos Barbosa Lima, Celso Machado在Walter大厅进行了同台演出。
2005年5月20日，Bagher举办的音乐会全球首演了加拿大作曲家Alan Torok创作的、由五个部分组成的组曲《奏鸣曲5号》。Alan Torok创作此曲并题献给了Bagher Moazen。2005年6月18日，Bagher又在多伦多Walter大厅演出了此曲。他受多伦多吉他协会邀请在多伦多演出了四次，他的音乐被英国广播公司和加拿大广播公司广为播送。
2009年10月，他为国际职业妇女**进行了演奏。
他三次受邀为多伦多Milonga俱乐部表演探戈音乐。2010年2月当地探戈团体又邀请他进行了一次演奏。
